The largest organ in the body isn’t the intestines, it’s the skin! Skin faces so much every day that it deserves more than just normal skin care. What you need are effective skin care habits.
For normal people, skin care is similar to taking a bath every day or washing your face before going to sleep. But there is much more than just washing. Skin care can start from the little habits we have to the little details of the food we eat.
Correct way to wash
The first effective skin care habit that we all know is washing. There’s a reason that’s the most common answer when asked about skin care. There is a correct way to wash your face and body.
Washing is done twice a day, not just before bed. This includes using a facial cleanser to remove dirt from your pores. Makeup remover is recommended for those who wear makeup. If you are on a skin whitening regimen, follow up with a toner and moisturizer. The neck is often overlooked when washing the face. Don’t forget it next time.
Washing the face is different with the body. Using warm water is better and relaxing than hot water. Moisture and natural oils from the skin are washed off with hot water. People with dry skin will have worse conditions.
Some people are in a rush when it comes to drying off after washing. Towels are often rubbed on the face and body. The correct way to dry the skin is with gentle patting. Completely drying the water will prevent the skin from absorbing excess moisture. Leaving the skin with a little hydration, let it rehydrate after a warm bath.
The face cream, moisturizer and lotions are applied after drying. This will improve the absorption of the ingredients and make the product more effective.
For products that are used during the day, choose those with SPF. The skin benefits from sun protection throughout the year. The sun gets harsher every season. Packing with SPF is a good preventative measure.
Every now and then, do a scrub. Removes dead skin cells that settle on the skin. This will allow the new skin cells to come out. Scrubs can come in the form of creams, scrubs, or loofah.
The face can also be exfoliated but in a gentler way. Exfoliating can remove oil and moisture, so keep a moisturizer to use later.
Correct eating and drinking habits
Eating and drinking is a vital part of our lives. No matter what we eat, we only let toxins and harmful ingredients enter our body. These come out on our skin, in one way or another.
When the body lacks adequate amounts of water, the skin will dry out. It will also become more dull and lifeless. Water does more than clean the body from within.
Not all delicious foods are healthy. Depending on the needs of your skin, you may need to consume more of certain fruits and vegetables.
If you’re dealing with stress, dirt, or pollution on a regular basis, pack foods that are high in antioxidants. This includes apricots, blueberries and their sister berries, oranges, kale, spinach, and more. Avocados grow in select seasons, so get them to help hydrate your skin. Tomatoes, squash, and carrots are also great for the skin.
Fats always sound bad for a few reasons. But some of them are really good for the body. There are good types that make the skin look younger. Olive oil is a good example that is also versatile in the kitchen. There are also healthy fats found in nuts, fatty fish, and eggs.
These skincare habits are easy to adapt to our daily lifestyle. Follow these steps to take better care of your body.
